Cikarang, October 2, 2025 – In line with the commitment of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to the Paris Agreement and the 2060 Net Zero Emission (NZE) target, the industrial sector has begun taking a more active role in the energy transition. One tangible step comes from PT Dharma Polimetal Tbk (DPM), which has partnered with PT Investasi Hijau Selaras (HIJAU) to implement green energy through a 3,650.9 kWp Rooftop Solar PV system at its manufacturing facility in Cikarang, West Java, on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Darmawan Widjaja, Director of PT Dharma Polimetal Tbk, stated that the company—engaged in the automotive manufacturing sector—is strongly committed to realizing sustainability. According to him, this strategic initiative reflects the company’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, improve energy efficiency, and support the national renewable energy mix target.
“As a company with high energy demands, the transition to renewable energy is a priority. By utilizing solar energy, DPM not only reduces dependence on fossil-based electricity but also significantly cuts carbon emissions. In line with our corporate tagline, ‘Exist to Contribute’, we believe that protecting the environment is an inseparable part of our mission,” said Darmawan.
“The implementation of this solar panel system is a concrete step in supporting the transition toward green energy and ensuring that our operations become increasingly environmentally friendly. In addition, this installation is part of the company’s long-term strategy to adopt sustainable business practices,” he added.
Ari Indra Gautama, Head of Corporate Secretary at DPM, explained that this collaboration began with DPM’s internal evaluation of its energy consumption and carbon footprint. Recognizing the importance of energy efficiency in maintaining industrial competitiveness, DPM partnered with HIJAU—a company with a strong track record in developing new and renewable energy, particularly solar power systems (PLTS). Construction began in November 2024, and the system officially became operational in May 2025, marked by the issuance of the Operational Worthiness Certificate (SLO).
Victor Samuel, President Director of HIJAU, stated that DPM did not need to make any upfront investment for this project. “This project serves as a concrete example that clean energy can be adopted without financially burdening industrial players. Through the zero investment scheme, HIJAU covers all costs for installation, operation, and maintenance,” he said.
With a total capacity of 3,650.9 kWp, this solar power system can reduce emissions by up to 3,000 tons of CO₂ per year, equivalent to planting nearly 4,800 trees or reducing emissions from 1,400 cars.
“We hope this project will serve as a model for other industries seeking to transition to clean energy without upfront capital,” Victor added.
He emphasized that safety is a top priority—not only during construction but also throughout maintenance and operation. “Therefore, HIJAU is committed to using high-quality, durable materials. In this project, HIJAU chose hot-dip galvanized walkways that are long-lasting and safe, rather than fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) materials that risk becoming brittle over time,” he explained.
This collaboration not only supports the principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) but also paves the way for the expansion of similar systems at other DPM facilities. HIJAU is also ready to extend this approach to other industrial sectors.
The synergy between technology, efficiency, and sustainability is expected to serve as a concrete example of how energy transition can be achieved without compromising cost or operational performance.
